A classic 4WD, reimagined as the kind of model kit you would have wanted on the shelf as a kid. This design features the legendary Toyota LandCruiser FJ40 presented in a retro model-kit style, complete with the unmistakable look of old-school boxed kits and build-it-yourself nostalgia.
The FJ40 is one of the most recognisable LandCruisers ever made — simple, tough and built for places where ordinary vehicles weren’t much use. Decades later, its boxy shape and no-nonsense character still make it a favourite with collectors, restorers and 4WD enthusiasts.
The model-kit treatment gives this design a slightly different feel to a traditional car shirt, combining two things plenty of us grew up with: cars we wanted to own and models we wanted to build.
Why we drew it
The FJ40 already has plenty of personality, so we wanted to do something more than simply put another illustration of one on a shirt.
The old model-kit style felt like a perfect fit. It taps into the nostalgia of building cars at the kitchen table while celebrating a LandCruiser that has become a classic in its own right.
It’s a bit of fun, a little retro, and very much aimed at people who have always had a soft spot for old-school 4WDs.

Looking after it: Wash cold, dry on the line where possible and don't put it in the dryer. If it needs ironing, turn it inside out and avoid ironing directly over the print.
Production: Your shirt is printed when you order it. Please allow around 5 business days for printing and preparation before dispatch.
